What is Soft Tissue Therapy?
Soft tissue therapies help remove areas of scar tissue caused by over-stressed or injured tissues. When muscles, ligaments, and tendons are overstretched or overloaded, the body uses scar tissue as a way of healing first. If the cause of the initial injury is not properly addressed, then the tissues will generate too much scarring and become an issue. Many common conditions, such as headaches, back pain, sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis, and tennis elbow, can be improved or resolved by a combination of soft tissue techniques provided by our doctors.
The doctors are trained in myofascial release techniques, which work to help scar tissue heal with long-lasting results. We use several different techniques to break up scar tissue. Some of the soft tissue techniques use the doctor’s hands as the tools, while some use instruments. The doctors use an instrument-assisted technique called FAKTR (Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehab). This technique involves treating the soft tissue adhesions while also incorporating forms of rehabilitation at the same time.
